Beyond the Screen: Taiyuan Weishan Meets the World at the 140th Canton Fair

The 140th Canton Fair has concluded. Taiyuan Weishan International Economic and Trade Co., Ltd. received over a hundred overseas buyers at Booth 11.2L40 in Area B. Whether for supermarket sourcing or OEM/private-label manufacturing, browsing through hundreds of pages of PDFs online can never compare to tasting the products in person. Meeting face to face is only the beginning; long-term cooperation is what truly matters.

On November 4, the third phase of the 140th Canton Fair concluded in Guangzhou. This session coincided with the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Canton Fair, with 352,000 overseas buyers from 219 countries and regions attending, an increase of 12.2% over the previous session and a new record high.

Many of the visitors to Booth 11.2L40 this time came with thick supermarket procurement lists in hand. No matter how exquisitely designed the digital catalogues sent online may be, or how enticingly the images have been retouched, buyers always harbour a lingering question in their minds: Is this reliable or not? When they stood before the booth, personally picked up a jujube from Taiyuan Weishan and squeezed it to feel its firmness, bit open half a walnut to savour its rich oiliness, and chewed a couple of plump, emerald-green pumpkin seed kernels, their doubts dissolved in an instant. The warm sweetness of the jujubes, the mellow crispness of the walnuts, the natural brightness of the goji berries, the sweet-and-sour taste of the raisins, along with the rich fruity aroma of the dried mangoes and the various casual confectioneries—the quality and fragrance of the food itself can immediately break through all cross-cultural trust barriers.

The exhibition has drawn to a close, but the rhythm of foreign trade professionals is only just reaching its peak. Thanks to every new and old friend who stopped at Booth 11.2L40 in Area B and engaged with us face to face and shook hands.
